An Update on Book Shipping

When I last posted, I had just approved the printed interior pages for binding. In the past, that has meant that bound books will be shipping in the next couple of weeks. (The printer has always been quite anxious to get all those pallets of books out of their warehouse.) And so…I completely misjudged the upcoming shipping date. As it turned out, the books were only bound and ready to ship out last week. So don’t worry, your books are not yet lost in the mail.
I had planned to fulfill the book part of this campaign straight from the printer, but it just didn’t work out. The printer we’ve worked with for years was recently bought out. Since then, my communications with the new staff have been a bit difficult. In the end, the more I worked on setup, the more uncomfortable I became with the whole idea of them handling the direct shipping, and so…the end result is that the books will be shipping from MakeThatThing as usual.
I’m very sorry about the change, I know I made a big deal about how I could ship straight from the printer this time, but I really think the way we’re doing it now is the safer choice. I’m still pretty disappointed about it, though. By now, the shipment of books should have arrived at Make That Thing’s warehouse, (the ones that came to our Studio just arrived, and they were sent at the same time) so we should be able to begin fulfillment very soon. I’ll keep you posted as I learn more.

The books are nearly printed, and this Monday, we'll be sending our printer a spreadsheet of mailing addresses so they can send books directly to backers who have filled out their BackerKit survey.
Please note that this is ONLY the books, extras like patches and medals will ship later, from our partners at MakeThatThing. The medals take a lot longer to make than the books.
If you are one of the 100 backers who has not yet filled out your BackerKit survey, please do! If you have lost your email invitation, that's ok, we are happy to send you a new one if you contact us through our Kickstarter Backer Contact Form. (Please do use the form, it's the best way to get to us quickly.)
The PDF download emails have gone out, so backers at the $10 and up levels, please watch for yours. They'll be coming from DriveThruComics.com.

1. THE PDF EDITION IS NOW LIVE!
The PDFs are now up! All of our $10 and up backers have now been sent an email with their personalized download link for the PDF of Girl Genius: Kings and Wizards. Because we are using DriveThruComics for the distribution, the email will come from the following address: DriveThruComics.com ([email protected])
I realize that this may find its way into some spam folders, so I give you this warning in case you need to mount a rescue expedition.
2. THE BACKERKIT SURVEY EMAILS HAVE BEEN SENT!
The BackerKit pledge manager invitations have gone out to everyone who backed at levels that get a physical mailed reward…and almost everyone has followed the link and finished it up. If you are one of the few who has not, please check your email inbox, and your spam folder. The invitation will have come from BackerKit, so it might easily have been missed. Without a response, we won’t have a mailing address for you, so please finish up the pledge manager! If you simply can’t find it, that’s ok, we can send you a new link. The best way to contact us is through our Kickstarter Backer’s Contact Form on our web site.

The campaign is over! Thank you all for joining in!
We have been very busy getting the last of the pages to the printer and making sure that we will have all the things ready for the Envelope of Madness in time to ship it with the books. This time, we'll be able to ship some of our backer's books right from the printer, so we're very excited.
We are very close to opening up the BackerKit pledge manager. It's all set up, we just need to go over things one more time to be sure everything is right, and then we'll send it to BackerKit for review. You will be hearing from us about that very soon.
In other news, our friends over at Cheapass Games are running a campaign for the Girl Genius: The Works card game. It's coming along very nicely, and one of their add-ons is going to be a Jager poker deck that we did a pile of art for a while back. Please take a look!
